It’s a Black 96 Civic DX Coupe. It does have 235k miles, but was towed behind an RV by the original owners. My co-worker’s dad is selling it and he is the second owner after the couple with the RV. It is very clean inside and out. Verifiable service history going back to new. It is unmolested, nothing broken, and well (I mean like old man style) maintained. He offered it to me for $2000. I think it’s a screaming deal, but I really like Civics. So really good deal or I don’t need another car. I’m not looking to flip, but I don’t know if I will see another in this good of condition. The mileage is high, but I had a 97 with over 400k that was not completely run into the ground.

I’d take that deal in a heartbeat.

Good DD.
I always assumed cars towed by rvs had the speedometer taken off, or in neutral.

Screaming deal? Hell no.
I wouldn’t pay more than $500 for that.

Nice price @1.4-1.8k. That’s 235k (mostly) unpowered highway miles. I’d wager the engine and transaxle substantially fewer hours on them. Plus a verifiable service history? Yes, please.
Edit: Also, my retired mom being one of them, hardcore retired RVers tend to not like snow. So if this was their full time RV tow-behind runabout, it probably didn’t see much salt.

Civics run forever, especially if they’re taken care of. $1,500 would be an amazing deal. 2k is pushing it for me personally, but those really are awesome cars. And as has already been said, the mileage was most likely towing, so the engine and transmission were just along for the ride and not encountering any actual wear.

235,000 miles... 381,000km... for US$2000. Nah... that’s too much. I would pay US$1500 tops if it’s in good condition and everything works.

Maybe I should mention where I am. I guess that’s why I think it’s a good deal. I could probably get $3000 easily for the car. I wouldn’t want to flip it though.

I do live in Eugene, OR. Civic prices aren’t exactly sane here.

I would go for this one instead:

55,000 fewer miles, asking $100 less, 4 years newer.
OR... use that add to justify that the ‘96 Civic is only worth $1500.
One other thing... on that 1996 Civic, I don’t believe for a second that most of those miles were ‘towed miles’. I bet at least 200,000 are ‘real miles’.
